The Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Amina Deiab as its new CEO, effective April 22.

Deiab brings more than two decades of experience in both the public and private sectors, including key roles in economic development, strategy, energy policy and governance.

Michael Ilnycky, Vice Chair of the AIC Board of Directors, said: “We are excited for Amina to take over and lead the AIC as it continues to fulfill its mission of protecting Alberta’s insurance consumers through the licensing and regulation of independent insurance agents, brokers and regulators in the province.”

He highlighted the transformative phase of the AIC and Deiab’s expected contributions in making the Board a more effective regulator during a period of growth and opportunity.

The Board also expressed its gratitude to Darlene Hyde, the outgoing interim executive director, for her dedication and leadership during the transition.

In her new role, Deiab will oversee AIC’s operations and set strategic direction. She is the founder of QED Inc, where she advised the board and executive team on establishing effective corporate governance practices.
